Congratulations are in order for Watchdog client, Nasdaq. What Is LEED?
LEED is a national certification system developed by the USGBC to encourage the construction of energy and resource-efficient buildings that are healthy to live in. LEED stands for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design. The rating system is a way to define and measure “green buildings.”
What Does LEED Platinum Mean?
Projects pursing LEED certification earn points across several areas that address sustainability issues. Based on the number of points achieved, a project then receives one of four LEED rating levels: Certified, Silver, Gold and Platinum. Platinum is the highest level of LEED certification.
What does ID+C Mean?
Different parts of a building can achieve different levels of LEED certification (or none at all). ID+C stands for Interior Design + Contraction. ID+C focuses on the interiors of buildings and allowing building occupants to breathe easy, have views of nature and daylight, which makes for healthier and more productive workers.
LEED for Interior Design and Construction enables project teams who may not have control over whole building operations to develop indoor spaces that are better for the planet and for people. This was the case for Nasdaq. The company was focused on sustainability and wanted to create a healthy work environment for the planet and for its employees. While Brandywine Realty Trust was developing the core and shell of the building (which achieved LEED Gold Certification), Nasdaq was able to design and construct a space that met their high standards for responsible design and construction.
Congratulations, Nasdaq! It has been a pleasure working with you and we are thrilled to have been part of such a successful project.
