Historic Building Renovation

Watchdog was hired by Chase Brexton Health Care to consolidate multiple medical facilities. Our project team coordinated and oversaw the consolidation of four locations into one new 178,000 SF HQ facility, while keeping the historic integrity of the building.

The main building was a historic landmark which needed full upgraded infrastructure to accommodate the state-of-the art urgent care facility. Our team managed the design and construction of the clinic, which adopted a new urgent care design. The design featured a central “hub” for doctors and nurses, with patient rooms surrounding the central hub. The facility houses general practitioners, dentistry, mental health care and drug abuse treatment. Our team managed the entire process from conception to completion and delivered the project on time and under budget. We were proactive in value-engineering exercises, while still meeting the architect’s criteria.

At the end of the project, the contractor returned $1 million to the client. We were able to maintain the project schedule, though adding and revising scope throughout. The project spanned over 18 months. At completion, the Baltimore Historic Preservation Society presented Watchdog with a certificate of recognition for our success in the upkeep of the historical elements of each facility.
