Workplace Strategy Take 2

As “Workplace Strategy” continues to evolve, once again we take a look at the question affecting companies of all types and sizes:  what exactly does “workplace strategy” mean to us?

Workplace Strategy is not simply defined.  If we break it down, with the help from Webster:

  • “Workplace” is defined as a place, such as a shop or factory, where work is done.
  • “Strategy” is defined as the art of devising or employing plans toward a goal.

At Watchdog, we continue to think about workplace strategy with a wide lens, crossing industries and environments, and layering in new considerations.  It’s a broad term, and we think encompasses many aspects of other typical workplace activities, including such areas of specialty as strategic planning, occupancy planning, migration planning, employee experience, future of work, financial analytics, and even such realms as project management governance and change engagement and communication.

As we continue to tap into our integrated resources here at Watchdog, we are on a journey with our clients, to uniquely define a strategic perspective that works for their respective culture and teams.  The evolution of a tailored workplace strategy will most likely include pieces of all of the above and may emphasize a particular aspect at various points in the timeline of the strategy.  The best strategy will be one that incorporates a continuous learning mindset…so that when you get to “the end” you have discovered through careful data collection and analysis, how to continue to improve and the cycle begins again.

So what does “workplace strategy” mean?  It means something different for everyone…but with Watchdog by your side, guiding deliberate and careful planning can be a roadmap to success for the ultimate employee experience!
